Olympic Tower was built in 1976, designed by Skidmore, Owens, and Merrill and financed by Aristotle Onassis. The building towers 51 floors on Fifth Avenue north of St. Patrick's Cathedral and across the street from Rockefeller Center. There is a large public atrium, spanning from 51st to 52nd Street which houses the Hellenic Museum and world renown retail stores. Above the retail space are 21 commercial floors. The upper 30 floors are for residential usage. The floor to ceiling glass wall construction was unique at the time of construction for residential buildings and has been extensively copied over the past decades.
